If you have a minor eye problem, you may not need to see your GP. Patients registered with a GP in Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering or Waltham Forest can access the NHS Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) for assessment and treatment by a qualified eye care professional.
Common conditions include:
- Blurred vision or watery eyes
- Dry, red or pink eye
- Floaters or flashing lights
- Blepharitis or conjunctivitis
- Itchy or burning eyes
- Allergic eye conditions
- Mild eye pain or discomfort
- Eyelid lumps or styes
- Ingrowing eyelashes
- Post-operative cataract assessment/monitoring
- Stable glaucoma monitoring
